Detective Danny Fisher gelingt es, nicht nur einen millionenschweren Coup zu vereiteln, sondern auch den vom FBI seit langem gejagten skrupellosen Gangsterboss Miles Jackson zu verhaften. Dabei kommt jedoch Jacksons Freundin ums Leben und Jackson schwört, sich an Danny zu rächen. Kaum hinter Gittern gelingt Jackson tatsächlich die Flucht und ein grausames Spiel beginnt: Er entführt Dannys Verlobte Molly und droht, sie zu töten. Dannys einzige Chance, Molly zu retten: Er muss in zwölf Runden gefährliche, schier unlösbare Aufgaben lösen, die ihn quer durch New Orleans führen. Wird er es schaffen, seine große Liebe aus den Fängen der Verbrecherbande zu befreien?
