Mitten in der Nacht erhält Monk einen Anruf von einem betrunkenen Lt. Stottlemeyer. Dieser weilt gemeinsam mit Disher bei einem Junggesellenabschied eines Kollegen in Las Vegas. Er bittet Monk, sofort zu ihm zu fliegen. Die Frau eines Kasinobesitzers ist tot. Angeblich ein Unfall, doch Stottlemeyer glaubt an Mord. Als Monk tags darauf in der Glücksspielmetropole ankommt, kann sich der verkaterte Lieutenant leider an nichts mehr erinnern. Monk und Nathalie gehen auf Spurensuche.
