Prä-Astronautiker glauben, dass die in verschiedenen Kulturen verehrten Götter Außerirdische waren. Sollte das wahr sein, bleibt die Frage, wie sich beispielsweise menschenähnliche Vögel und Reptilien, Götter mit blauer Haut oder Wesen mit zu vielen Gliedmaßen erklären lassen. 1928 entdeckte der Archäologe Julio Tello die Schädel von Paracas in Peru. Dabei handelt es sich um Köpfe, deren Schädelvolumen 25 Prozent größer als das der größten bekannten menschlichen Schädel ist. Manche glauben, dass dies Überreste außerirdischen Ursprungs sind.
