Dvořák - Sinfonie Nr. 9, Op. 95
Andris Nelsons leitet das Gewandhausorchester Leipzig in einer Aufführung von Antonín Dvořáks Sinfonie Nr. 9 in e-Moll, Op. 95, "Aus der Neuen Welt". Dvořák schrieb seine berühmte Sinfonie im Jahr 1893 während seiner dreijährigen Amtszeit als Direktor des Nationalkonservatoriums für Musik in New York. Der nationalbewusste Komponist wurde vom Konservatorium engagiert, um einen neuen nationalen Stil der Kunstmusik für die Vereinigten Staaten zu schaffen. Inspiriert von afroamerikanischer und indianischer Musik nahm Dvořák Elemente dieser Musik, darunter pentatonische Melodien und synkopierte Rhythmen, und wandte sie auf seine Sinfonie an. Diese Aufführung wurde 2017 im Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Deutschland, aufgenommen.

Bach - Sonate Nr. 4 BWV 1017
This Sonata for Violin and Harpsichord No. 1 BWV 1014 is the fourth out of the set of sonatas Johann Sebastian Bach composed before 1725, probably during his time as chapel master in Köthen. Presumably, he wrote these sonatas for Prince Leopold and later adapted them for further use in Leipzig. Maybe this is why these pieces are well playable for amateurs, while every sonata still has the finesse that can offer a challenge to professional musicians. The different pieces are meant to be a set, just like the Brandenburg concertos.
