Ben Mitchell und seine beiden Freundinnen Liz Hunter und Kristy Earl kaufen ein altes Auto, um durch Australiens Hinterland zu reisen. Ihr erster Stopp ist ein Meteorkrater im einsamen Wolf Creek National Park. Als sie zu ihrem Auto zurückkommen, springt es nicht mehr an. Doch schnell ist ein hilfsbereiter Einheimischer zur Stelle, und das Blatt scheint sich wieder zum Guten zu wenden.
