Prinzessin Ann hält sich als Repräsentantin ihres Staates in Rom auf. Plötzlich hat sie von den zermürbenden Empfängen endgültig genug und verschwindet. Der Journalist Joe Bradley findet sie schlafend auf einer Parkbank. Nur widerwillig bietet er dem jungen Mädchen ein Nachtquartier an. Erst am Tag darauf wird ihm bewusst, wen er eigentlich beherbergt hat. Jetzt sieht er in einem privaten Interview mit der Prinzessin die Chance seines Lebens.
