Die Tiere der herzensguten Farmerin Pearl fristen ein gemütliches Dasein. Eines Tages jedoch wird diese Ruhe gestört: Zum Ersten zieht die freche Kuh Maggie ein, zum Zweiten kommt Sheriff Brown mit einer Hiobsbotschaft auf die Farm: Wenn Pearl nicht innerhalb von drei Tagen ihre Schulden von 750 Dollar bei der Bank bezahlt, wird die Farm zwangsversteigert. Zusammen mit Buck, dem etwas tollpatschigen Pferd des Sheriffs, wollen die Kühe den berüchtigten Viehdieb Alameda Slim schnappen - auf dessen Kopf ist nämlich eine Belohnung von 750 Dollar ausgesetzt...
