Mr. Krabs ist entführt worden. Spongebob macht sich zusammen mit seinem Freund Seestern Patrick auf, seinen Chef zu befreien. Dazu müssen sie die verschwundene Krone Neptuns wiederbeschaffen. Diese hat der fiese Minischurke Plankton dem Meeresherrscher gestohlen, um damit die Weltherrschaft an sich zu reißen. Dem nicht genug, hat Plankton Mr. Krabs die Schuld zugeschoben, und so lange Spongebob nicht die Unschuld seines Chefs beweisen kann, behält Neptun ihn als Geisel.
