Marketplace Africa: Nigeria E1 Boat Racing/Developing Nigeria's Waterways; Samer Kassem

In Lagos Nigeria, 17% of the state is composed of waterways and lagoons. But water transportation is highly underutilized, despite poor road infrastructure and traffic congestion. Now, the state actively seeking to develop its waterways network through public ferries and private operators as well as a partnership with the international boat racing franchise E1, with the first African E1 event taking place in October. E1 is also looking to grow their presence on the continent through digital education and outreach, something that is launching in tandem with the event in October.
